Katelyn Dawn-talented, energetic, ambitious, inspiring, committed, charismatic and accomplished. These are a few words that describe this young Winnipeg singer/songwriter. Katelyn Dawn just ended her stint on Canadian Idol, exiting the show as one of the top females, with only 2 girls surpassing her.

Katelyn recently released her 2nd album, 'The Window'. Katelyn co-wrote many of the songs on this album at EMI Publishing, collaborating with their staff writers in Toronto. After gaining some momentum from being the 3rd last girl on Canadian Idol this season, Katelyn is set to release her first single, 'When the Coffee's Cold', to radio. With the support of Manitoba Film & Sound, Katelyn is working with Bobby Gale from Plug Music Inc on her radio campaign, which began Sept. 15th. The new album, produced by Chris Burke-Gaffney (Chantal Kreviazuk) & Dale Penner (Nickelback) combines an organic sunny roots-pop sound, with hummable melodies and jangly hooks which wouldn't be out of place next to Sheryl Crow or KT Tunstall on your playlist. With the use of eclectic instruments like harmonica, mandolins, banjo and accordion, 'The Window' provides a fresh take on a pop album.

At age 16, Katelyn released her debut album. Katelyn's first single from her debut album, ‘Open Your Eyes’ produced by John Paul Peters (the Waking Eyes), garnered immediate mainstream radio play across Canada. One of the singles, Private Eye, was 1 on Cashbox Magazine Indie Charts for 9 consecutive weeks. Katelyn was recently nominated for a Golden Kayak Award in the ‘Best Pop Song’ category for her single 'Private Eye'. Her music can be heard on various radio stations across Canada and the US. Katelyn has showcased at MIDEM 2007, NXNE 2006 and has performed at the Winnipeg Folk Festival 2005, 2006, and 2007. Katelyn has had a heavy performance schedule locally and abroad.

Katelyn began writing and performing music at the age of 14. Her early influences include artists such as Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah McLachlan, and more recently KT Tunstall, Feist and Jeremy Fisher.

The latest discovery of Katelyn Dawn’s music was made by that of Kenneth Hari, a world-famous portrait painter from New York City. "I was going to paint Grace Kelly once... I regretted that it didn't happen until I met Katelyn, because she's like an incarnation of Grace. You can't fake that kind of aura. Her CDs are one thing, but hearing Katelyn play alone with her guitar puts me in a trance, Manitobans are so lucky to have this talent." – says Hari in an interview with the Winnipeg Sun April 28, 2008

Whether Katelyn is performing solo with her guitar, or accompanied by a full band, she always leaves her audience entranced by her emotion and silky voice. On stage, she brings a strong sense of self and uses her music to communicate her messages honestly and passionately.
