The dream is not the destination ... it is the journey.
One morning a few summers ago - well, actually several summers ago now - I found myself at that place characterized by the great New York Yankees catcher, Yogi Berra: 'When you come to the fork in the road, take it.'
I did ... and I took it.
In a roundabout way it led me back to my country roots and to my music that I had left behind many years before, paving the way for me to have the opportunity to pursue this life-long dream.
The multi-talented line-up of musicians in The Legendary Bear Creek Band on my debut album “No Looking Back” included my mentor and Juno Nominee and international recording artist Ray Lyell on acoustic, electric and bass guitar, keyboard, harmonica and backing vocals, Gary Borden on lead guitar, Ken Baird on piano, Steve Petrie on pedal steel guitar and fiddle, and vocalist Paula Tessaro.
The album was produced by Ray Lyell and co-produced by Neil w Young. It was arranged, engineered and mixed by Ray Lyell and was recorded at Rayne Records in Hamilton Ontario and mastered at the legendary Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton.
Joining The Legendary Bear Creek Band in the studio at Rayne Records on my forthcoming second album "What Difference Will It Make" are Roger Banks on drums and Mike DeBenedictis on bass guitar.
I am pleased and honoured to have the following guest musicians and artists featured on various tracks on my aforementioned new album: Gary Ashthorpe - piano ("Rock And Roll Will Never Die"), Glenn Higgins - Tenor sax ("Tunnel Of Love And Bumper Cars"), Anne Lindsay - fiddle ("The Eyes Tell You Everything" and "For Old Times' Sake"), David Rodenburg - Tenor sax ("Is There No One?") and Randal Hill - banjo and mandolin (For Old Times' Sake").
Glenn has performed with such legendary groups as "The Temptations", "The Drifters", rhythm & blues duo "Sam & Dave", "Crowbar", Juno Award winning group "Lighthouse", and with the "Illustrations" - a ten-piece Jazz/Rock group featured in the Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970's, as well as with various bands in Canada, the United States and Puerto Rico.
Anne has performed and recorded with numerous artists including "Led Zeppelin", "The Chieftans", "Roger Daltry", "Dionne Warwick", "Natalie McMaster", "John McDermott", "Blue Rodeo", the "Jim Cuddy Band" and others. Anne also played a key role as folk fiddler in the Lord of the Rings stage show.
During his time playing in the house band at Lulu's (the world's biggest bar at the time) David Rodenburg performed with such greats as The Temptations, Billy Preston, Ben E. King, The Drifters, Del Shannon, the Fifth Dimension. David has also performed for luminaries including US Vice President Dick Chaney and Mickey Rooney. Performing and recording now with his band "The Soul Mission" in venues in Kitchener Ontario, David also continues to perform internationally with The Drifters.
Randal Hill, a nine time winner of Canadian Bluegrass Mandolinist of the Year, has performed and/or recorded with the likes of Sylvia Tyson, Ian Thomas, Graham Townsend, Prairie Oyster, Big Redd Ford, Tom Wilson and many others. A professional band leader and sideman (for 33 years and counting) touring Canada, the U.S. and Europe, Randal is also an in-demand recording session musician.
My sincere thanks and appreciation to the above talented artists and musicians for being a special part of making my dream come true, and to all who listen to my songs ... should you find some enjoyment from them, or if some fond memory or thought is stirred or touched within you, or if by chance one takes you back for a few brief moments to some heartfelt or longed-for return to a special time or place in your life, or if in some small way lifts your spirits, well, that would make this dream of mine even more special and personally rewarding - what more could I possibly hope for. Music is for the soul ... my wish is that mine touches yours.

Hot Rod Star
Dedicated to the memory of Dick Clark (Nov 30, 1929 – April 18, 2012) and his American Bandstand TV show, and to all the great legends of rock and roll that influenced me and were the inspiration for my love of music. Those were the days, we thought they’d never end. I remember, I was there. Hot Rod Star ... from my just started third CD album going back to my 1950's rock 'n' roll rockabilly roots.
