Though we choose not to think about it, our lives are nothing less than a perpetual "high-wire act". For which of us knows even what the next moment will bring? In this suspense the tension creates something special, something which can only be captured, when using the medium of music, improvisationally. Rhythm seems to be disorderly and timing appears unevenly dispensed. Yet this "music" is a means to an end... for invoking feeling; evoking emotion; conveying idea. When no longer viewed through that narrow lens of "music", this stuff becomes what it is, something which is unique in and of itself. Nothing compares unto a moment which can NEVER be repeated. Any attempt to re-capture that particular essence is rooted in failure. Even to create an EXACT copy would be nothing more than an "imitation"... high flattery, but the "Life"(that essence itself) remains forever within the native moment... the moment when a song "becomes"...

The Psyche's Muse have few normal (pre-pared) musical creations. Most of the stuff here is improvisational. Lyrics are being read for the first time by the singer while he is singing them. A neo-phyte does something using a bass, keyboard or guitar to begin a process called "musicating". The stuff is captured on a typical stereo cassette deck. Guitar leads for the most part are a live portion of the improv. Drumming is added as a later embellishment. There were a few times where a drum track or previously recorded instrumental was used to initiate an improv. From these creations come the songs which are subjected to the mix-down process. A four-track tape deck adds in any extra goodies. Other songs have been left as they are, naked and unadulturated (excepting for EQ, Comp or Reverb of course).

I realised that there was nothing wrong with the sentiment of the forefathers, but a terrible application of the ideals by modern politicians. You've probably heard that the Liberals in Australia are gone (and I mean GONE!). They were completely thrashed at the polls and the former Prime Minister became only the second leader in Aussie history to lose his local seat. Now we'll spend a decade reversing the destructive arrogance of a selfish party that somehow commanded a mandate. It's time to reverse the culture of selfishness that both our countries developed during the money-hungry years, if it's possible. On a musical note (pardon the pun) I'm lovin your tracks. You and X make a great team. It's among the most original music I've heard.
