Morning Velvet...
...is a rock band based in Montreal. Founded by lead singer/main composer Sebastian Smith in Fall 2009, the quartet was composed of Smith on Rythym Guitar and Lead Vocals, Dimitri Demers on Bass, Rick Fillion on Drums, and Thomas Tige on Lead Guitar. Being involved in many other musical projects, Tige quit the band and was replaced by Nino Menard a couple of months later.

Then came a small tour of Montreal bars and the participation at two band contest (Emergenza and Envol et Macadam) in summer 2010. Those shows gave the band the opportunity to test their material and see the public reaction to their music.

After a short break of live appearrance, the guys went outside the city for a two week recording session in Sainte-Marie-Salomé, QC. The release of this first album is expected on February 21st 2011.

By many, Morning Velvet has been described as a band with up-beat and dancing tempos, crunchy guitars, groovy bass lines and catchy melodies. The overall sound is made of something between british, late 70's new-wave and new american pop-rock all along with a distinctive personnal sound. Their lyrics are about many subjects we all struggle with like love/hate, peace/war, the meaning of life and many more. Sometimes dark, sometimes positive the message is delivered in a simple and effective way. Yours to discover!!!!!!
