Thank you John for stopping by my page and thinking of us and my family in Italy. i am just very grateful that they are physically unharmed, unfortunately the experience will leave some indelible scars in all of us, imagine for those who lost someone in the disaster...
Even though we only went back to my birth town once every two years or so, it was always there in the background, as they say, you can take a boy out of the town, but you can't take the town out of the boy...well the town is practically gone...I think that the people of Abbruzzo will have the resolve to rebuild and salvage whatever artifacts they can from what was such a historically rich area. I don't have any photos of L'Aquila but I have some of the surrounding areas, so I am putting together a short slide show for people to see what a beautiful part of the world it is...
Once again thank you for thinking of us, and have a nice easter with your family John,
Ciao,
Vincenzo

Travel guides often mention this....whenever I travel this is the first thing I look up...the electricity situation....

Travel shops sell converters for travelers....which you would need if you bring your own amplifier or any appliance that takes different electricity....you can buy sets of converters for different countries....so I hope you were OK in New Zealand!

Sorry John,
I just read your question again. If you are just plugging your guitar through a jack into a local amplifier it should not make any difference as any current would be supplied by the preamp section of the amplifier. if you are taking your own amp that would make a difference as your amp would be set for a different voltage and cycles.
I am of course assuming here that like a PC the input voltage would change on the power supply, but the output to the internal circuits etc would not.
Ciao again,
Vincenzo

Hi John,
I think there are two issues. One is the voltage ( I know it's 125V in the USA) Is it the same in Canada? the cycles are also different 50 Hz in NZ and 60 Hz in USA. So you made need some converter. I know they are available, but you need to make sure it provides you with the Amperage you need. I am at a loss here as I don't fully understand all this. Just check the voltage also, because I think is 220 in Europe but 230 in AUS and NZ, but I don't think that 10V difference is going to matter much.
Hope this helps a little. Great to hear from you John, We had a fantastic trip to Antarctica, but unfortunately Elaine has picked up cold after cold and she is still coughing a lot!!
Ciao for now,
Vincenzo

John. thank you for the comment re the Who knows what lurks , I was not going to upload it..given the nature of the songs lyrics influence but thought what the hay , I actually got to see Zappa way back in I think in 66-67 at the old agri-dome (sp) ,and thanks for the insight on the tune...it actually was going to go somewhere else. I had other plans for the Who knows what lurks...but once I did the keys and stuff , I had this thing about laying down vocals, not singing obviously,,all improv, on the fly...rather out there. but fun.
hope people can see the value in it given the recent circumstances...anyways. thanks for liking it...bryon

Hey John - Thanks for coming by and updating me
on Doug & The Slugs! Sad news re: Doug Bennet!
The bass player I knew was Steve Bosley - we met
in person in the UK in the early '90's. His folks and
mine were best friends in Vancouver in the 50's and
we were born around the same time, so grew up
together until I was 4, when we left for Ireland and the
UK!
Glad to see a thriving music scene in BC, had a listen
to some of your tunes - All GOOD Stuff!
Thanks for your comments regarding our stuff - YEAH
Keep it real!
All the Best

Hi John - I was born in Vancouver, raised in Southern Ireland
and the UK, and would like to ask if you ever came across a
Vancouver band called 'Doug & The Slugs'? They were about
in the 80's I think!
Between the ages of 2 - 4 I spent time on the front porch with
their bass player Steve B!
Apologies if this request is 'Strange', I'm just curious?
All the best
Colin

I agree about age not making any difference... it's all music and it connects us all on the same level. I've played in bands with my dad and done a lot of jamming with him and even a couple of songs. It's always a lot of fun.
I like to collab quite a bit yes! The power of the net is amazing... it makes working with anyone in the world possible. I even have a new project formed with a guitar player form Slovenia. I was in a band once for a little while, and although there's no substitute for a live in room jam, it's always nice to collab with folks digitally... it can eliminate the some of the social politics and make it easier to just focus on the music. Plus I've learned so much and there's so many great players out there!
I was listening to some of your tunes. They sound really good! And you've had some nice success here I might add, as if you didn't know... haha :)

Hi John,
Just enjoying your tune Train in E. Some nice guitar rhythms there.
Notice you say you play a Larrivee, a lot of people make comparisons between my hand build "Mathew Carter" and a Larrivee, but I've never had the chance to play one. It's sounds like a nice guitar.
Just started streaming "Just Need A Friend" sounds cool too.....
